stylish shelves.
There's something about endless shelves filled with books that make a space feel so comfortable and lived in. I would love to have a stylish library with walls and walls of books one day...and hopefully a nice ladder to access them all! Here are a few photos of great personal libraries; I love the way that some are organized by color, using the books as wall art...the perfect example of beautiful, functional design. I'm absolutely in love with this first room...

a taste of fall.
There's nothing better than going apple picking in the fall with a nice treat of apple cider donuts and hot, steamy cider to warm up after a chilly day. I made homemade donuts once with my family and have been wanting to try them again, but this time infused with some of my favorite fall flavors. Here are some great recipes for classic apple cider donuts (from one of my favorite food blogs, Smitten Kitchen), as well as little pumpkin drop donuts. Pair either choice with fresh mulled apple cider for a comforting combo full of delightful fall flavors!

latest obsession: cor sin labe doli bow ties
Although I'm loving the "all buttoned up" look that's currently on trend, it still makes me miss being able to accessorize with a little neckline glitz. Enter the Cor Sin Labe Doli ceramic bow tie. I can't help but love these quirky little accessories for the collar from Italian designer, Antonioli. The designers behind the bow claim that these eccentric little pieces are often even worn wrapped around the wrist as a bracelet or dangling from the neck with a collarless shirt. Who knew a ceramic bow tie could be so versatile?! Not to mention they come in a variety of colors to match all of those prefectly pressed shirts hanging in your closet. I think I may just have to splurge for the gold...

a colorful collaboration for kate.
Deborah Lloyd, the creative genius behind Kate Spade New York, has enlisted the creative services of styling maven, Brad Goreski (of Rachel Zoe fame) to aid in styling the brand's newest collections. The playful, witty styles of both Lloyd and Goreski go hand-in-hand with the modern, yet whimsically-chic edge the Kate Spade brand is so well-known for. The gorgeous prints were conceived by Australian artist, Florence Broadhurst, bringing bold pops of color and classic black + white creations - all accented with cheeky little sayings on bags and graphic tees. Here's a quick peek at the Spring 2012 preview for a little mid-week eye candy...such a happy collection!

inspiration in remembrance
A fearless visionary and creative genius, Steve Jobs was more than just a highly successful entrepreneur and CEO. He was a game-changer. The incredible legacy he leaves behind not only through his influence on the way we interact with technology, but also on the definition of personal excellence, will forever be imbedded in our culture. I will always admire his bold desire to pursue seemingly crazy and unattainable goals, and to pursue them well - so well that the results redefined what is now the future. His legacy, as well as his wonderful quote below, are dedicated to all those out there with big dreams. Thank you Mr. Jobs for inspiring us all.

glitz + riviera glam
Thought I would start the week with a little glitz a la the Fendi Spring 2012 show in Milan...I'm obsessed with the makeup (who doesn't love a little sparkle?)! Karl Lagerfeld did an impeccable job portraying Italian Riviera-like summer glamour (blown out bouffants, summer suits and oversized shades with twinkling eyes beneath). What's not to love?! I'm absolutely dying over the striped trench.

power prints.
Artist Don Oehl may have just taken the phrase "power couple" to a whole new level with his witty print series based on the Hollywood power couple craze. Oehl combined fashion moguls with their media counterparts (and of course their names, accordingly) to create simple black and white prints infused with some wit and a bit of pop culture prowess. Loving these prints for a fashionista's office or as a powder room conversation starter. What do you think? Anna + Karl or Marc + Sophia?

fall flatbreads.
Flatbreads are the perfect way to take the typical pizza concept and turn it up a notch. Not only is the super-thin crust delicious and lighter than the traditional italian recipe, but it's an easy canvas to create a variety of exceptional recipes with unique flavor profiles. A flatbread is the perfect menu item to alter based on seasonal ingredients - it's versatile enough to cut into neat little squares for cocktails or to simply sit alongside a steamy cup of soup for those chilly days in. All you need is a bag of pre-made pizza dough (traditional white, whole wheat or herb all work great) and any ingredients that strike your fancy. Roll the dough out very thin (about 1/8-1/4") - I like to make it into a rectangle so I can cut it into squares. Layer on quality ingredients for the perfect bite; then, following the baking directions for the dough, bake on a sheet pan until golden brown and crispy (or roll out in a circle and use a pizza stone). Here's a lovely recipe from Martha Stewart for a Mint, Feta and Lamb version, or try these other great flavor combinations I've tried in the past:

Tomato + Ricotta + Basil + Fresh Mozzarella
The flatbreads only take about 10 minutes to cook and can be served at room temperature, so they are the perfect pick-up bites to serve at a party. Experiment with different sauces, cheeses, and other fresh, seasonal ingredients to find your favorite combination!

loafer lust.
As fall approaches, I've become absolutely smitten with the loafer/smoking slipper trend that has emerged for the season. A classic silhouette, the loafer embodies timeless (and comfortable!) footwear, but what I'm loving most are the creative twists designers are bestowing on this preppy staple. I'm currently coveting leopard slippers, classic black patent leather penny loafers, and the fabulous gold glitter flats from J.Crew. Add a great day-to-night staple to your collection with J.Crew's heeled version in rich emerald satin. I think I may just have to have every pair...what style are you lusting over?
